What to actually look for on a material test certificate

A Material Test Certificate is easy to file away unread once a shipment clears — but the numbers on it are the only real evidence that the drum in front of you will perform the way your approved sample did.
The fields worth actually checking are viscosity, pH and specific gravity against the ranges on your original approval, and the batch or lot number against what's physically printed on the packaging. A certificate that doesn't match the drum it's meant to accompany is a red flag, not a formality.
If a value sits outside the range you originally qualified against, that's the moment to raise it with your supplier before the material goes into a live mix — not after a batch behaves unexpectedly on site.

IndustryWhy supply consistency matters more than price in drilling chemicals
A cheaper drum that behaves differently from the last one costs more in downtime than it ever saved on the invoice.
